Mad as Hell: 60 Minutes Took on the Powerful and Made Television History — Foreword by Scott Pelley — 9781632261816 — Harry Moses — Prospecta Press — 256 pages — $27.50 — September 1, 2026 – ebook and audio book editions available

Harry Moses has had a long and incredibly interesting career as a documentary film maker. As a producer, director and writer, he made documentary films, television programs, and features including The Trial of Bernhard Goetz, Assault at West Point, and Who the %$#! is Jackson Pollock? During two different stints at CBS News, he wrote, directed and produced almost one hundred stories for 60 Minutes. He received Emmy, Peabody, and Directors Guild of America awards, as well as a Lifetime Achievement citation from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for his work on 60 Minutes.

Harry has an array of great stories to tell, and very strong opinions about film, television, and the role and purpose of a free press in America, so this is a very apt time for him to write and for me to publish his thoroughly engaging and powerful memoir about his work, and especially the people with whom he worked, including subjects as well as colleagues.

There was a time when 60 Minutes was the most powerful hour on television, its audience reaching as many as fifty million viewers each week. Even Presidents watched. Ordinary citizens–wronged, ignored, or silenced–found a voice.

Today, as many of my listeners well know, in the current corporate/political environment, that important voice faces an critical test of its journalistic integrity.

Harry’s book takes us inside the broadcast that reshaped television journalism. At 60 Minutes, he worked with Mike Wallace, Dan Rather, Morley Safer, Ed Bradley, Diane Sawyer, Scott Pelley, and executive producer Don Hewitt for over twenty years, and deeply understand how investigative journalism worked for the greater good of the republic.

Mad as Hell makes clear that fearless journalism still matters, and what is at stake when the institutions built to defend the truth come under threat.

“[Harry Moses] spent decades as a producer at 60 Minutes. His new book, Mad as Hell, is a timely reminder of what made 60 Minutes so iconic for so long, and what is at risk of being lost under the network’s new management.” — Nicolle Wallace, Deadline: White House (MSNOW)
